In The Beginning: Harvest Scents and Traders (HST) started out on the kitchen table - literally. The business crept slowly into the family room and the garage. It wasn’t long before the neighbors complained about us having too much trash. It is fun to look back!
Since the Company’s beginning in 2001, we have moved warehouses four times. In addition, we have expanded our warehouse space three times at these various locations.
For the first six months we didn’t even have a desk or a file cabinet. We sat on boxes, used our cell phone and kept the orders in a “nice” box. We soon got a hand me down metal desk and we thought we had hit the big time!
We have been so blessed. We started with one small booth at the Indianapolis Gift Mart and now rent 600-900 feet at trade shows.
Our Purpose: Having owned four businesses, our owners believe very strongly in the American Dream. While being American owned and operated, our desire is to inspire small business owners to maximize every opportunity available to them by providing all the support we can. Our goal is to keep you working in and on your business by causing you as few headaches as possible.

Product Types: Harvest Scents and Traders offers retailers a complete line of wholesale gifts, florals and home décor items. Customers love that we are a “one stop shop.” Our product portfolio is very comprehensive in that we offer florals, home fragrance, lamps, resin items, signs, votive holders, plates, potpourri, holiday items, decorative items and electric tart warmers.
Innovative Design: Our house artist, Amy Durham, designs the majority of our products. We also sub-contract some of our design work.
Amy has been an industry leader in design. Her unique floral designs have literally reshaped the face of the country floral market. Our florals are not “off the rack.” Each one is custom designed by Amy utilizing unique textures, shapes and colors. Amy has been a pioneer in the floral arena as she has invented several new berry shapes and textures. Always searching for ways to set her designs apart, Amy has invented the “dusty berry”, “antique berry”, “clicky berry” and most recently the “dusty leaf.” Customers love her unique designs!
Looking for a way to set themselves apart in the floral arena, Harvest Scents and Traders was the first to come out with “theme” florals. The berry garlands and wreaths were already popular, but HST was the first to mix the “chotchkies” in with the berries. We have wreaths with saltbox houses in them, ice skates, farm animals, vintage labels, buttons and spools … the list goes on. Customers say it is like a treasure hunt in our booths at trade shows. They never know what they are going to find inside our florals. Just like our retailers get excited about the special theme items inside our florals, so do their customers.
Harvest Scents and Traders employs the “Sales Builder” philosophy when designing. We have many complete collections that offer a floral line with a complete matching gift and home decor collection. This allows the stores to create an appealing display and have a complete look in minutes. This also boosts retail sales in that the end customer will buy several matching items for their kitchen or family room on their first visit. This aggressive design practice helps HST's customers to maximize their selling potential.
Harvest Scents and Traders stays one step ahead, by releasing over 2,000 new items per year. We have to keep it fresh for our customers. Every six months we have a major new release. HST's design philosophy is, “We want to be the Joneses, not try to keep up with them!”
Competitively Priced Merchandise: Along with great design, Harvest Scents and Traders offers very competitive prices. The owners came from a retail background themselves and really consider the end retail price when setting their wholesale costs. HST buyers are very serious negotiators and work hard to keep their costs down with suppliers, so that the best price can be offered to retailers.

We Make It Easy To Buy: Harvest Scents and Traders is very customer friendly and has only a $75 minimum order. At trade shows we often run a “No Minimum Order” special to make it easy for customers to try our line. Customers also love that fact that our minimum quantity purchase requirements for items are also very low.

- SHOWROOM - We have a large showroom on site at our warehouse that customers can shop if they come to visit us. This is convenient for customers to pick up their orders.
- CASH and CARRY - We have a Cash and Carry in our warehouse where customers can take advantage of huge savings on samples, one of a kinds, and discontinued items. All items are at reduced prices.
- WEB SITE - Customers can order day or night on HST's comprehensive web site. This is a great way to see our new releases before they are even cataloged. Our web site receives lots of compliments from customers about how user friendly it is. It has high quality photos and is well organized into various shopping categories. We even have a search tool on our web site where customers can locate a specific item or item number.
Our secure web site is password protected and only allows wholesale buyers to shop. Customers are also able to take advantage of internet sales and closeout items on the web site.
- CATALOGS - We release 2-3 major catalogs annually to keep customers updated with our latest releases. These are a great re-order tool for our customers.
- REP SHOWROOMS - HST is represented in several major markets by rep groups. We have rep showrooms in Columbus and Minneapolis. We also have a product showcase in Canada.
- ROAD REPS - HST has road reps that visit customers in their stores across the country.
